邱香国博士简介

Dr. Xiangguo Qiu received her M.D. degree in 1985 at Hebei Medical University and M.Sc. in immunology in 1990 at Tianjin Medical University. She went to MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA) as a visiting Scientist in 1996 and moved to CancerCare Manitoba (Canada) in 1997 as a research associate. In 2003, she joined Special Pathogens Program at National Microbiology Laboratory, Public Health Agency of Canada to start studying the most deadly viruses such as Ebola/Marburg/Lassa in the only level 4 (highest containment level) laboratory in Canada (~15 in the world).  Her primary field is immunology with research emphasis on vaccine development, post-exposure therapeutics and rapid diagnostic of haemorrhagic viruses. As a member of WHO expert team, she and her colleagues provided advises/technical support for biosafety in 2008 Bejing Olympics, 2010 Shanghai Expo, 2010 winter Olympics in Guangzhou and G8/G20 in Canada. Her group demonstrated that mAbs completely protect nonhuman primates from Ebola virus infection the first time and has changed the view in the filovirus field. Her treatment protocol was documented by WHO as a recommended countermeasure for Ebola virus infection. Currently, Dr Qiu is a biologist and head of serology diagnostics in Special Pathogens Program of National Microbiology Laboratory, Public Health Agency of Canada.
